5 Ways To Market Your Business Online

When starting a new business it’s important to keep costs low so you have a better chance of making a profit. You might not have the capital to spend to market your business online right away in the beginning stages of your new venture, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t low cost methods you can use to help your brand grow. With the internet boom, small businesses today have way more options when it comes to ways to market your business online, whereas in the past they had to rely on costly methods like printing out a lot of fliers and sponsoring local events and places in their community.

Here are five ways cost effective ways to market your business online:

1. Social Media

With the rise of social media businesses and customers are now able to communicate instantly, which can be both a gift and a curse. By signing up on social media sites, your able to interact with your customer base directly as well as keep them up to date about anything new that might be coming from your company.

Social Media isn’t just an option anymore, it’s a necessary tool that can help spread the word about your brand for free. With websites such as Facebook you can advertise directly to your customer base and in turn they will promote your brand straight to their friends if they like it. The flip side of this is that it’s easier for fans to complain and call you out if you do bad business or have low quality products.

2. Blogging
I know that a blog can seem like an unlikely tool when it comes to helping your brand grow but if used the right way, it can become your biggest asset. A blog helps you keep your customers and fan up to date on the day to day operations of the company, as well as letting them know about cool upcoming products or services that your about to release. A blog also releases original content which will help you rank higher in Google’s search engines, thus helping you bring in more business.

3. Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization, commonly referred to as SEO, can be the make or break point for your new businesses’ website. SEO consists of posting content about your new business on powerful websites that will help climb the search engine rankings. SEO isn’t easy to do, but once mastered, it could be one of the most powerful tools in your war chest. You can SEO a whole website, a certain keyword, or product. So when future customers enter that keyword or product into a search engine, your one of the first ten websites to pop up. It’s been proven that most users don’t go beyond the first page of search engine results, so being on the first page could literally mean the difference between landing that big sale, and closing up.

4. Press Release

A press release is a powerful way for marketing your business online. Press releases let people know what your business is up to, and it’s advisable to release one ever time your brand does something newsworthy. Press releases help to generate publicity by keeping folks up to date on the latest offering your company has, and the best part is the free distribution. You can literally release a press about anything but be careful not to over saturate the market.

5. Join an online community
Almost every niche has an online community that you can tap into to help drum up sales. In order for this to work effectively for you brand, you have to be an active contributor of the forum and give back in some way, shape, or form. It’s important not to talk about your business in every post because that seems spammy and desperate. Instead try and build a rapport with the forum, and promote your business by putting a link in your signature if its allowed, or mentioning it every once in a while if it’s appropriate.
